Changing trans oil in D15 What spec to use?

Posted: 20 Feb 2018 at 6:38pm. So I am about to drain and replace the oil in the transmission of the D15. I have to replace the PTO seal anyway, and the oil in the transmission should be changed. I noted some comments on supplier sites that the 80/90 weight GL-5 spec is not suitable for "yellow metal" in older tractor transmissions.

D15 rear lift issues

ALL D15 have the dip stick and fill for hydraulic pump under fuel tank. The two below the dash near the gearshift are trans. and PD. The front dipstick is PD. The rear most dipstick is trans. The drain plug for the hydraulics is on the pan that covers the pump, where the TB linkage hooks. MACK.

Hydraulic System Conversion D15??

If the D-15 is like the D-14, it's a high pressure,low flow pump. About 3500#.Way too much for 'modern' hydraulic 'things'. Hopefully a D-15er will respond with the numbers. You do NOT want to be nearby when a hose/fitting breaks or damage the bailer hydraulics. Most hydraulic valves can be adjusted for pressure.

oil type D15-17 tractor

Even todays 10W-30 will have far more film strength than the straight 30 of sixty years ago. I'm with Doug on this. I use the same 15-40 diesel oil in my 190xt, d17 IV gas and my d14. Also have been using it on lawn mowers pressure washers etc as well.

Looks to me like a simple hole punched in the fender is just going to rip a bigger hole and tear itself out. Older D-15's have the tail light directly behind the seat. Later models were on the fender and had a cast iron socket to mount the light to. Same part as a D17 IV and maybe III.

The loader arms are easily lifted when removed so you can adjust height by moving the post closer or farther away from the loader.

Features include power steering, factory 3 point, wide front, and hi/lo shift on the go (power director). Relatively low hours for a tractor of this age and everything still works good.
